Legal
Terms of Use
Legally binding terms governing your access and use of the SlikRide platform and services.
1. General Terms & Acceptance
1.1. The Contract: These Terms of Use (“Terms” or “Agreement”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“User,” “you,” or “your,” including riders, shippers, recipients, and guest users) and SlikRide Limited (“SlikRide,” “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a private limited liability company incorporated under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (RC Number: 9482140), with its principal office situated in Ogbomoso, Nigeria.
1.2. The Platform: The “Platform” collectively refers to the SlikRide proprietary mobile applications (available on iOS and Android), websites, software, technology infrastructure, APIs, and associated customer service systems operated by SlikRide.
1.3. Acceptance: By downloading, installing, accessing, browsing, or using the Platform or any Services provided through it, you represent and warrant that you have read, understood, and irrevocably agree to be bound by these Terms and our incorporated Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms in their entirety, you must immediately cease all access to and use of the Platform and uninstall the mobile applications.
1.4. Modifications: We reserve the right to amend, update, or revise these Terms at any time in response to legal, regulatory, technical, or commercial developments. We will provide notice of material changes through an in-app prompt, email, or a prominent notice on the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of any revisions constitutes your express consent to the updated Terms.
2. Nature of Platform & Description of Services
Technology Platform Intermediary Disclaimer
SLIKRIDE IS A TECHNOLOGY SERVICES COMPANY AND DOES NOT PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION, LOGISTICS, COURIER, FREIGHT, FOOD DELIVERY, OR FERRY CARRIER SERVICES.
The Platform serves exclusively as a digital communications marketplace connecting registered Users seeking transportation, delivery, or logistics services with independent third-party service providers (“Partners,” including independent vehicle drivers, motorcycle dispatch riders, moving contractors, and logistics vendors). Partners are independent contractors and are not employees, joint venturers, agents, or representatives of SlikRide. SlikRide does not operate vehicles, provide transport services, or supervise the day-to-day operations or road conduct of Partners.
2.2. Services Offered on the Platform:
- Errands & On-Demand Delivery: Point-to-point dispatch and delivery of parcels, small cargo, documents, groceries, food orders, and purchases-on-request.
- Pickups & Drop-offs: Scheduled or on-demand item pickup and delivery.
- Ride-Hailing (Intracity): On-demand urban passenger transportation via registered motorcycles (“Bikes”), tricycles, standard sedans, buses, and premium passenger vehicles (“Cars”).
- Ride-Hailing (Interstate): Inter-city passenger transport bookings, seat sharing, or full vehicle charter between states within Nigeria.
- Moving Services: Light, medium, and heavy household or corporate office relocations, loading, and transit.
- Laundry Pickup & Delivery: Scheduled pickup, commercial vendor dry-cleaning/laundry processing, and return delivery.
- VIP Marine/Ferry Bookings: Aggregated access to licensed commercial water transport and private ferry charters.
2.3. No Guarantee of Partner Availability: SlikRide does not guarantee that a Partner will be available, willing, or able to accept a booking request in any given geographic territory at any specific time.
3. Access to Platform and Device Requirements
3.1. System Availability: We endeavor to maintain high platform availability, but we do not guarantee that the Platform will always be uninterrupted, bug-free, or fully secure. Access may be temporarily suspended without notice for maintenance, upgrades, system updates, emergency repairs, or force majeure events.
3.2. Hardware, Internet, and Carrier Charges: You are solely responsible for obtaining and maintaining the smartphone, mobile operating system, internet connectivity, and mobile data required to access and use the Platform. Standard messaging, data, and telecommunication carrier rates apply to your usage.
3.3. Account Confidentiality & Responsibility: You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials (including SMS OTP codes and transaction PINs). Any activity, booking, or financial liability incurred through your account shall be deemed to have been executed or authorized by you.
4. User Eligibility, Registration, and Account Security
4.1. Age & Legal Capacity: You must be at least 18 years of age and possess the full legal capacity to enter into binding contracts under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Minors under 18 years are strictly prohibited from creating accounts; any minor traveling in a ride booked by an adult must be accompanied by an adult guardian at all times.
4.2. Registration Data: To register for an account, you must provide your true legal first and last name, a valid Nigerian or international mobile telephone number, a functional email address, and a profile photo. Depending on the service accessed, we may request Know-Your-Customer (KYC) documents, such as a government-issued photo identity card (National Identification Number / NIN slip, Voter's Card, Driver's License, or International Passport), residential address verification, and emergency contact details.
4.3. OTP Verification: Account authentication is secured via One-Time Passwords (OTPs) sent via SMS or encrypted messaging rails. SlikRide personnel will never contact you to ask for your OTP or transaction PIN.
4.4. Accuracy & Fraudulent Accounts: You warrant that all registration details provided are truthful, accurate, and kept updated. Providing fictitious names, disposable phone numbers, or fraudulent payment instruments will result in immediate permanent account termination and referral to law enforcement agencies (including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission — EFCC).
4.5. Account Termination by User: You have the right to terminate your account at any time through the in-app account deletion mechanism (Settings > Security > Delete Account) or by submitting a written request to support@slikride.com, subject to the settlement of all outstanding fares, negative wallet balances, or ongoing dispute investigations.
5. Independent Partners (Drivers, Riders, and Vendors)
5.1. Independent Contractor Relationship: Partners are independent third-party entrepreneurs operating their own commercial transportation, delivery, or logistics businesses. Nothing in these Terms or any engagement document creates an employment, agency, franchise, joint venture, or partnership relationship between SlikRide and any Partner.
5.2. Vetting & Onboarding: While SlikRide conducts onboarding verifications—including valid driver’s licenses, vehicle particulars, roadworthiness certificates, comprehensive or third-party vehicle insurance, and criminal history background checks—SlikRide does not endorse, guarantee, or assume direct operational control over the Partner’s physical driving skills, mechanical vehicle state, or personal character.
5.3. Vehicle Standards & Compliance: Partners are strictly required to ensure their vehicles remain roadworthy, mechanically sound, clean, and in full compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local government transport regulations (including VIS, FRSC, and LASTMA requirements).
5.4. Right to Deactivate: SlikRide reserves the unreserved right to immediately suspend or permanently deactivate any Partner from accessing the dispatch system for safety violations, customer harassment, fraudulent trip manipulation, low customer ratings, non-compliance with vehicle documentation, or criminal infractions.
6. Payment, In-App Wallet, Fares, and Taxes
6.1. Payment Gateway Integration: All card and bank transactions on the Platform are processed through licensed, PCI-DSS compliant third-party payment gateways, notably Paystack Payments Limited (“Paystack”). SlikRide does not store complete debit/credit card numbers or CVV codes on its servers.
6.2. Payment Channels:
You may settle fares and service fees using:
- SlikRide In-App Stored-Value Wallet;
- Linked Debit or Credit Cards (Mastercard, Visa, Verve);
- Direct Bank Transfer / Virtual Account Transfer;
- Quick Response (QR) Code payment;
- Cash on Delivery / Cash to Driver (where explicitly enabled for specific trip types or delivery routes).
6.3. In-App Stored Value Wallet Terms:
- Closed-Loop Wallet: The SlikRide in-app wallet is a closed-loop stored-value digital ledger designed strictly for the payment of Services on the Platform.
- Non-Interest Bearing: Balances held in your wallet do not accrue interest, are not bank deposits, and are not insured by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).
- Driver Earnings & Withdrawals: Partner earnings are credited to the Partner wallet following platform commission deductions. Payouts to verified commercial bank accounts are processed in accordance with standard settlement cycles and subject to applicable statutory or payment gateway processing fees (e.g., Paystack automated transfer charges).
- Anti-Fraud & Negative Balance: If your wallet balance falls below zero (due to a failed card chargeback, mid-trip fare recalculation, or cancellation fee), you must promptly fund your wallet. SlikRide reserves the right to charge any linked payment method, apply offset against incoming referral credits, or restrict booking capabilities until the arrears are cleared.
6.4. Fare Structure & Dynamic Pricing (Surge):
- Fare Breakdown: Fares for ride-hailing services are calculated based on a formula consisting of: (a) Base Fare, (b) Per-Kilometer Distance Rate, (c) Per-Minute Travel Time Rate, (d) Waiting Time Fee, and (e) Platform Service Fees.
- Dynamic / Surge Pricing: During periods of elevated demand, inclement weather, traffic congestion, or localized driver shortages, dynamic pricing algorithms may temporarily apply a surge multiplier to base rates. You will always be displayed the estimated surge-adjusted fare before confirming a booking.
- Tolls, Parking, and Surcharges: Any highway tolls, bridge tolls (e.g., Lekki-Ikoyi Toll), airport parking fees, or inter-state transit surcharges incurred during a trip are added to the final trip fare and charged to the Rider.
- Waiting Fees: Drivers will wait free of charge for up to five (5) minutes after arriving at the designated pickup location. Beyond this period, per-minute waiting fees will automatically accrue until the trip begins or the driver cancels due to a Rider No-Show.
- Cleaning & Damage Surcharges: If a rider vomits, spills liquids, stains upholstery, or physically damages a Partner's vehicle interior or exterior, SlikRide reserves the right to debit the rider’s payment method or wallet for reasonable commercial cleaning and repair costs (up to ₦25,000 for basic detailing, or the actual quoted repair cost for physical damage).
6.5. Currency and Taxes: All transactions, fares, and surcharges on the Platform are quoted and billed in Nigerian Naira (₦) and include applicable Value Added Tax (VAT) or state consumption taxes where required by statutory enactments.
7. Intellectual Property Rights
7.1. Ownership: All software, design patents, trademarks, service marks, trade names, logos, user interfaces, database architecture, domain names, copyright, and visual assets comprising the Platform are the exclusive property of SlikRide Technologies Limited or its licensors.
7.2. Limited License: SlikRide grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to download and use the SlikRide mobile applications on personal compatible mobile devices solely to access the Services in strict accordance with these Terms.
7.3. Restrictions: You shall not:
- Decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the Platform;
- Scrape, crawl, index, or harvest data or fares from the Platform using automated bots or scripts;
- Frame, mirror, or republish any portion of the Platform;
- Modify, translate, adapt, or create derivative works based upon the Platform.
7.4. IP Infringement Notice: If you believe in good faith that any content or material on the Platform infringes your copyright or trademark rights, you may submit a formal takedown notice to our designated Intellectual Property Officer at legal@slikride.com.
8. No Reliance & Indicative Information
8.1. Indicative Data: Estimated Times of Arrival (ETAs), navigation routes, street traffic density, and fare estimates displayed on the Platform are computer-generated approximations based on real-time data feeds (including Google Maps Platform APIs). They do not constitute binding guarantees.
8.2. No Guarantee of Schedule: Unforeseen events—including road accidents, traffic jams, severe weather, mechanical problems, and military or police checkpoints—may significantly alter routes and transit times. SlikRide accepts no financial or consequential liability for any missed flights, business meetings, appointments, or deadlines resulting from transit delays.
9. Limitation of Liability, Disclaimers, and Insurance Allocation
9.1. Statutory Exclusions: Nothing in these Terms shall limit or exclude SlikRide's liability for death or personal injury directly caused by SlikRide's proven gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or intentional fraud, to the extent that such liability cannot be lawfully excluded under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
9.3. Specific Operational Liability Allocations:
Accidents, Personal Injury, and Vehicle Collisions:
Because SlikRide is an intermediary software platform and not a common carrier, SlikRide shall not be held liable for any road traffic accidents, bodily injury, medical expenses, death, or vehicular damage arising during a trip or delivery. Sole operational liability for the safe operation of the motor vehicle rests with the independent Partner.
Compulsory Partner Vehicle Insurance:
Every Partner operating a vehicle or motorcycle on the Platform is legally required under the Nigerian Motor Vehicles (Third Party Insurance) Act and Insurance Act to maintain an active, valid Third-Party (or Comprehensive) Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy issued by an NAICOM-licensed insurer. In the event of a collision or accident, all initial claims for bodily injury, passenger harm, or property damage must be directed to the responsible Partner and their designated insurance underwriter. SlikRide may, at its sole discretion and without creating any legal admission of liability, maintain a discretionary group personal accident safety cover to assist registered passengers.
Errands, Logistics, and Package Deliveries (Loss or Damage):
SlikRide is not an insurer or common carrier of freight. Shippers and senders are strictly prohibited from dispatching prohibited items (see Section 12.2). For permitted parcels, SlikRide and the Partner shall not be liable for fragile items that are improperly packed, perishable goods that spoil due to traffic, or consequential economic losses. For proven physical loss or destruction of a standard package directly caused by Partner negligence or theft, SlikRide’s aggregate maximum liability—whether under contract, tort, or bailment—is strictly capped at the lesser of: (a) the verified fair market value of the declared item, or (b) a maximum sum of ₦25,000 (Twenty-Five Thousand Naira), unless the sender purchased supplementary premium shipment protection through the Platform prior to dispatch.
Interstate Trip Delays, Roadblocks, and Force Majeure:
SlikRide and Partners are excused from transit performance liabilities for interstate delays resulting from events beyond reasonable control (“Force Majeure”), including road washouts, bridge collapses, vehicular mechanical breakdowns on the highway, state-mandated curfews, civic unrest, banditry, fuel shortages, or prolonged law enforcement/military security checkpoints. In the event of a mechanical breakdown during an interstate trip, the Partner and SlikRide will make commercially reasonable efforts to dispatch a rescue/relief vehicle or arrange alternative onward transit; if alternative transport cannot be organized within a reasonable window, the passenger will receive a pro-rata refund for the uncompleted leg of the journey.
Emergency / In-App SOS Features:
The SlikRide mobile application provides an in-app emergency SOS alert feature. This feature is a supplementary digital convenience that transmits the trip's live GPS coordinates, vehicle details, and driver information to the User’s pre-registered Emergency Contacts and the SlikRide safety monitoring desk via automated SMS and data links. THE SOS FEATURE IS NOT A GUARANTEED ARMED RESCUE DISPATCH, POLICE RESPONSE, OR MEDICAL EVACUATION SERVICE. SlikRide does not operate law enforcement or armed tactical units. In any urgent, life-threatening emergency, Users are advised to immediately dial the Nigerian National Emergency Number (112 or 199) or contact local police emergency hotlines directly. SlikRide disclaims any liability for network delays, SMS delivery failures, or lack of state security agency response.
10. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SlikRide, its parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents, and licensors from and against any and all claims, demands, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including legal fees and court expenses) arising out of or resulting from:
- Your violation of any provision of these Terms or any applicable Nigerian statute or regulation;
- Your improper, fraudulent, or unlawful use of the Platform or Services;
- Your violation of any rights of any third party, including independent Partners, pedestrians, or other passengers;
- Any physical damage, assault, defamation, or property destruction caused by you inside a Partner’s vehicle;
- Any undeclared, hazardous, or prohibited cargo handed over by you for delivery or moving.
11. Term, Suspension, and Termination
11.1. Term: This Agreement becomes effective on the date you first download, register, or access the Platform and remains in force until terminated by either you or SlikRide.
11.2. Suspension & Deactivation: SlikRide reserves the right to immediately suspend, restrict, or permanently terminate your account and your access to the Platform, without prior notice or liability, where:
- You commit a material breach of these Terms;
- We have reasonable grounds to suspect fraud, payment tampering, or identity theft;
- You engage in abusive, threatening, violent, or discriminatory behavior toward Partners or customer support staff;
- Your user rating falls below the platform minimum quality threshold;
- We are directed to do so by a court of competent jurisdiction, the Nigerian Police Force, or a competent regulatory agency.
12. Restricted Activities and Prohibited Cargo
12.1. Platform Misuse:
You shall not:
- Impersonate another person or use an account registered under a false identity;
- Solicit, entice, or negotiate off-platform cash rides with Partners to bypass platform commissions or trip insurance;
- Intentionally submit fake pickups, phantom orders, or abusive cancel loops;
- Use the Platform to harass, stalk, threaten, or defame any individual;
- Introduce viruses, trojans, worms, logic bombs, or other malicious code;
- Interfere with the real-time GPS telemetry, rating systems, or dispatch mechanisms.
12.2. Prohibited Goods for Errands, Delivery, and Moving Services:
You warrant that you will not use SlikRide delivery, errand, or moving services to dispatch, transport, or store:
- Illegal narcotics, psychotropic substances, or unregulated controlled drugs;
- Firearms, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, or lethal weapons of any kind;
- Flammable, corrosive, toxic, radioactive, or biohazardous chemical materials;
- Stolen goods, counterfeit currency, or proceeds of crime;
- Unaccompanied cash, negotiable instruments, gold bullion, precious gemstones, or lottery tickets;
- Human remains, organs, or live animals (unless pre-approved specialized veterinary courier);
- Any item whose transport or possession is prohibited under the laws of Nigeria.
13. Safety, Code of Conduct, and Communications
13.1. Zero-Tolerance Policy:
SlikRide maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy against:
- Driving or riding while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or intoxicating substances;
- Any form of sexual harassment, inappropriate touching, suggestive commentary, or gender-based violence;
- Physical violence, fighting, or threats of violence;
- Discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, or age.
13.2. In-App Safety Tools:
The Platform provides built-in safety features, including:
- Share My Trip: Live digital route sharing with trusted family and friends;
- Masked VoIP Calling: In-app voice calling powered by Agora RTC, which hides your private phone number;
- Emergency SOS Button: Instant dispatch of emergency alerts with live coordinates (see Section 9.3);
- Two-Way Rating & Reviews: Mutual post-trip feedback to enforce safety and community standards.
13.3. Reporting Incidents: In the event of an accident, safety incident, or driver misconduct, you must immediately file an incident report via the in-app support center or by emailing safety@slikride.com.
14. Interstate Trip Policies & Rules
For all inter-city and inter-state passenger bookings (Section 2.4), the following terms strictly apply:
14.1. Booking Lead Time: Interstate trips must be booked at least two (2) hours prior to the scheduled departure time, or booked up to seven (7) days in advance through scheduled reservations.
14.2. Mandatory Identity Verification: In compliance with federal road transport safety regulations and passenger manifest laws, all interstate passengers must present a valid government-issued photo ID (NIN, voter card, driver's license, or international passport) matching the booking name to the driver before boarding. Boarding will be denied without refund if valid identification is not produced.
14.3. Luggage Policy: Each booked seat entitles the passenger to:
- One (1) standard medium suitcase or travel bag (maximum 20kg); and
- One (1) small personal carry-on item (laptop bag or small backpack).
Excess luggage or oversized cargo is subject to vehicle trunk capacity and will incur supplementary cargo fees or may be refused at the driver’s discretion.
14.4. Route & Scheduled Stops: Interstate travel follows established, pre-approved major transit corridors. Drivers will make reasonable, authorized comfort stops at designated highway rest areas. Unscheduled roadside detours, off-route deviations, or prolonged stops in high-risk zones are strictly prohibited for passenger and driver safety.
15. Cancellations, Waiting Times, and Refunds
15.1. Rider Cancellations (Intracity City Rides):
- Free Cancellation Window: You may cancel a city ride request without charge within three (3) minutes of the Partner accepting the booking.
- Cancellation Fee: If you cancel after three (3) minutes, or after the Partner has already arrived at the designated pickup location, a standard Cancellation Fee (ranging from ₦500 to ₦1,000, depending on vehicle class and city) will be debited from your wallet or charged to your linked payment card to compensate the Partner for fuel and travel time.
15.2. Rider No-Show: If a Partner arrives at your pickup location and you fail to board within five (5) minutes (or make verified contact with the Partner), the Partner may mark the trip as a “Rider No-Show.” You will be billed the standard No-Show / Cancellation Fee.
15.3. Partner Cancellations: If a Partner cancels the trip before arriving or fails to arrive within a reasonable window, no fee will be charged to you. If your wallet or card was pre-authorized, the pre-authorization hold will be released immediately.
15.4. Interstate Cancellation Tier:
- Cancellation more than 24 hours before departure: 100% refund (less nominal payment gateway processing charges).
- Cancellation between 4 and 24 hours before departure: 50% cancellation fee; 50% refunded to in-app wallet.
- Cancellation less than 4 hours before departure or Passenger No-Show: 100% forfeiture of fare (non-refundable).

- In-App Wallet: Credited immediately upon approval by our support desk;
- Original Bank Card / Account: Processed via Paystack within 5 to 7 business days, subject to your card-issuing bank’s settlement clearing timeline.

You agree that all electronic notices satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.
17. Severability and Waiver
If any provision of these Terms is deemed illegal, invalid, or unenforceable by any court or arbitral tribunal of competent jurisdiction, such provision shall be severed, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. No failure or delay by SlikRide in exercising any right under these Terms shall constitute a waiver of that or any other right.
18. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
18.1. Governing Law: These Terms, their interpretation, and any non-contractual obligations arising out of or in connection with them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the substantive laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
18.2. Informal Dispute Resolution: Before initiating formal legal proceedings, the parties agree to seek an amicable settlement. You agree to submit your dispute in writing to legal@slikride.com.
